Stacy
Smith joined the Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies
in January 1996. Her role as editorial specialist includes
formatting and editing research proposals and papers; designing
newsletters, brochures, and graphics; and designing and maintaining
web sites, including ICHS,
the NRC for American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Elders, the Arctic Human Health Initiative, and others.
Stacy was also
involved in the ongoing Alaska re-licensure survey for Registered
Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses and was the author of the 2002 survey report. Separate from the Institute, Stacy co-authored
the publication "Anchorage Healthy Future Project: 1998 Community
Report Card," a report that used key indicators to measure
the health and quality of life of Anchorage residents.
Stacy holds
a BS in Health Promotion and an MFA in Creative Writing and Literary
Arts from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She is Affiliate Editor
of the literary journal, Alaska Quarterly Review. In her
spare time, Stacy writes and publishes literary short stories; works
with her dogs in a variety of sports, including flyball and weight pulling; and spends time with her husband and 2 kids.
