Melodie Fair
works as a Research Associate at the Institute. She is involved
in evaluating programs statewide, especially in the area of substance
abuse prevention or intervention. Melodie has a special interest
in education projects, and is currently the evaluator and project
coordinator of the Focused Vocational Education Grant at the Copper
River Native Association.
Over the years,
Melodie has been involved in a number of projects at the Institute.
These include:
the Alaska Native Science Research Partnerships for Health; the State
Incentive Grant project (Alaskans Collaborating for Teens); the State
of Alaska Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Prevention project; the Evaluation
of CRNA's Hudson Lake Recovery Camp; the Copper River Health Needs
Assessment; the Copper River Native Association Organizational Review;
the Alaska Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP) study; and the Anchorage
Safe Communities project.
Before coming
to ICHS, Melodie taught high school in Ohio and was subsequently
employed at the Midwest Universities Consortium for International
Activities and the Research Foundation at the Ohio State University.
She holds a BA in religious education and a Master's
degree in Adult Education. Outside of work, Melodie enjoys singing,
playing the piano, quilting, gardening, working with stained glass,
and keeping in touch with her family in the Midwest.
