In 1999, the FSTA awarded $6,000
to the Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies (ICHS) for evaluating
the Family Services Training Academy, and another $6,000 in 2000
for reviewing the current FSTA activities. This was completed
in August 2000.
The Family Services Training Academy
(FSTA) is a program operated by the University of Alaska Anchorage
School of Social Work under a Reimbursable Services Agreement
with the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHHS),
Division of Family and Youth Services (DFYS). The mission of FSTA
is to provide quality and comprehensive training for all statewide
DFYS social workers, licensing workers, social services assistants,
managers, and supervisors in the area of child welfare. FSTA operations
commenced at the beginning of the state fiscal year 1999.
